JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a highly motivated Data Analytics Consultant to join our growing data engineering team. You will be working hand in hand with our advisory teams to process, load, and analyze large, complex datasets across a wide variety of clients.  The ideal candidate has strong business acumen, the desire and ability to work at a consistently rapid pace, and a solid understanding of core technical concepts relating to the handling, processing, and organization of data. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identify core business problems and the analytics needed to understand them.
• Load, analyze, and profile data received to understand what needs to be addressed via transformations and what needs additional involvement from the client.
• Lead client data calls to communicate project data requirements.
• Mentor & guide advisory team members on how to develop relevant hypotheses and leverage core analytics to confirm them.
• Leverage Python and Azure Databricks to perform a one-time load of client data into our proprietary measurement tool (ProfitBuilder) in the early stages of a project.
• Assist Delivery project teams in creating and generating analysis on ‘big data’-sized datasets.
• Define technical requirements for ongoing automation of client data pipelines and transmit to the Data Automation team.  Act as a thought partner and SME for the Data Automation team during the implementation of those requirements.
• Work with stakeholders across the organization to assist with data-related decisions, questions, and technical issues and support their data flow, automation, and infrastructure needs as part of an overarching client solution.
• Assist in reviewing the scope, complexity, and effort to deliver project tasks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex bugs and production issues.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, or related field. Four (4) years of relevant experience as a Database Developer, ETL Developer, BI Developer or equivalent role may be considered in lieu of a degree in addition to the experience below. 

Work Experience

Minimum: Three (3) years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or data consulting roles. Preferred: Five (5) years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related field, working directly with clients in a professional services environment. 

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Minimum: 

• Ability to perform root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases and query authoring (SQL) 
• Understanding of core data concepts – schemas, storage methods, batch vs. streaming, data types, basics of matrix mathematics.
• Working knowledge and experience with Azure data ecosystem including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, and other components.
• Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages such as Python, C#, Scala, etc.
• Ability to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
• Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. 
• Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
• Ability to mentor, teach, and lead others.
• Exceptional work ethic, judgment, business acumen, attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts and present to senior-level executives.

Preferred:

• Thorough understanding of core pricing concepts – price measurement, modeling fundamentals, price/margin walks, peer grouping, customer/product hierarchies, indexing, etc.
• Understanding of JSON format and experience working with JSON documents.
• Experience with big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
• Experience with Azure messaging services such as Event Grid, Event Hub, and Service Bus.
